Azerbaijan is considering the possibility of launching a satellite of its own. Part of the satellite may be based on Belarusian technologies, said the official.
Azerbaijan also plans to promote ties with Belarus in other areas. In particular, Makhmud Kerimov spoke highly about accomplishments of Belarusian scientists in the area of LED technologies. “It is one of the areas we can cooperate in,” he explained.
All in all, Azerbaijan has a solid interest in Belarusian science. It is no accident that a joint working group has been set up. “Belarusian science is at the forefront of development. We could learn a lot from Belarus,” believes the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
In turn, Ziyad Samedzade, Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Azerbaijan parliament, remarked that Belarus was developing rapidly. He pointed out the agribusiness, which is developing rather successfully, and said that by launching the satellite Belarus became a space power.
A session of the working group on developing Belarusian-Azerbaijani cooperation and starting the manufacturing of new products at joint enterprises took place in Minsk on 7 August. Makhmud Kerimov, the head of the Azerbaijani part of the joint working group and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, is in Minsk to take part in the event. The heads of the national academies of sciences are expected to discuss promising avenues and mechanisms of promoting cooperation between the countries.
During the two-day visit the Azerbaijani delegation will visit, in particular, the United Informatics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the enterprise Geoinformation Systems, and the enterprise Academpharm.
