Belarus attends EAG session in Moscow

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - A delegation of Belarus’ financial intelligence service is in Moscow for a session of the Eurasian group on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism (EAG) on 22-25 May, BelTA learnt from the State Control Committee’s press office.

The Belarusian delegation is headed by Director of the Department for Financial Monitoring of the State Control Committee Alexander Maksimenko and includes representatives of the Department for Financial Monitoring of the State Control Committee, the Interior Ministry and the Finance Ministry.

The program includes sessions of the working groups for mutual assessment, legal matters, technical assistance, typology and surveillance and a session of a new working group on combating drug trafficking, crime and terrorism.

The working groups and also the EAG plenary session will discuss the ways of enhancing the efficiency of the EAG as an international organization, EAG cooperation with other international bodies and participation of some countries in the EAG in the capacity of observers. The EAG will consider further implementation of the international standards in combating money laundering and financing of terrorism.
