MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarus may set up an enterprise to assemble unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in Cuba, Yevgeny Vaitsekhovich, Director General of Minsk Aircraft Overhaul Plant, told media on 9 August.

In his words, Minsk Aircraft Overhaul Plant maintains tight cooperation with all the authorized organizations in Cuba. The Cuban side has been given technical data for the unmanned aerial vehicle Sterkh-BM that Belarus has started manufacturing. Apart from buying Belarusian UAVs Cuba is interested in starting the joint assembly of unmanned aerial vehicles on the island.

The executive said the Belarusian-Cuban joint assembly of unmanned aerial vehicles can be a promising project for Belarus. Belarus would be able to penetrate Latin America markets with its own unmanned aerial vehicles.

The time to implement the project has not been determined yet. A lot depends on Cuba that will have to examine technical capabilities of the Belarusian UAV that started flight tests a while ago.
