Belarus presents $3.2bn project to build LCD displays plant at Harbin Trade Fair

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – Belarus has presented a $3.2 billion project to construct a plant producing LCD displays at the China Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair (Harbin Trade Fair), BelTA learnt from the National Agency for Investment and Privatization (NAIP).

Director of the agency Dmitry Klevzhits made a presentation of investment opportunities of Belarus at the trade fair. He invited potential investors to consider constructing a plant to produce LCD displays (the investments are estimated at $3.2 billion), a facility to produce nitrogen fertilizers ($1.1 billion), projects to construct a multifunctional entertainment center in Logoisk District ($740 million), a transport and logistics center in Gomel ($314 million), a high-speed tramline Minsk-Logoisk ($190 million) and others.

Chinese businessmen and government officials were informed about the investment climate in Belarus, advantages of doing business in Belarus, the most promising investment areas and specific investment projects.

This year a forum “Business Week of Belarus” was held at the forum. The Harbin Trade Fair will stay open until 19 June. The forum is held every year under the auspices of the Chinese government, local authorities and foreign companies. This is a world’s major expo that has been visited by over 1.8 million people from 80 countries since 1990.
