A Belarusian girl was killed in a cycling accident during a health break in Italy earlier this month.

Anhelina Sudalenka, 11, died after her bicycle veered off a road and fell down a ravine in northwestern Italy on July 11. She hit her head several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The girl had arrived in Italy as part of a group of children resident in Chernobyl-affected areas on a holiday funded by Italian charities.

When reached by BelaPAN, Andrey Savinykh, spokesman for the Belarusian foreign ministry, said that the ministry was providing consular assistance to the parents of the girl.
