Jak powiedziała Radiu Swaboda pracownica mohylewskiej kolonii karnej, gdzie przebywa koordynator kampanii "Europejska Białoruś" Źmicier Bandarenka, jego prośba zostanie rozpatrzona przez komisję w kolonii w środę. To, czy więzień wyjdzie na wolność, zależy jednak od tego, czy prośbę podpisze prezydent Alaksandr Łukaszenka.

"Jaka zapadnie decyzja, będzie wiadomo później. Na razie (Bandarenka) przejdzie u nas komisję(), a potem prześlemy materiały do komisji ds. ułaskawień przy prezydencie. Jeśli wszystko przebiegnie tak, jak zaplanowano, sprawa zostanie rozpatrzona już w środę" - powiedziała pracownica kolonii karnej.

Dodała, że Bandarenka jest pod opieką więziennych lekarzy i "nie skarży się na warunki odbywania kary".

Tydzień temu Bandarence, który latem przeszedł operację kręgosłupa, zaostrzono warunki odbywania kary. Odebrano mu m.in. laskę, zakazano leżenia w ciągu dnia i noszenia ortopedycznego obuwia. Jego żona uznała to za tortury. W sobotę opozycjonista powiedział jej przez telefon, że podpisał prośbę o ułaskawienie. Zaraz potem zwrócono mu laskę i obuwie ortopedyczne.

Już po napisaniu prośby o ułaskawienie Bandarenka wysłał żonie dwa listy. W jednym z nich pisze: "Teraz może być wszystko, i w jedną, i w drugą stronę, chociaż najprawdopodobniej stanie się trudniej. Ale teraz już nie mogą kręcić" - napisał Bandarenka. Jak podkreśla jego żona, mąż nie może pisać wprost i stąd niejasne momentami sformułowania.

Bandarenka został skazany pod koniec kwietnia 2011 r. Podczas wyborów 2010 r. był współpracownikiem jednego z opozycyjnych kandydatów na prezydenta Andreja Sannikaua, który również został skazany na kolonię karną. Jeszcze przed skierowaniem na odbywanie wyroku Bandarenka znalazł się w szpitalu więziennym z powodu poważnych problemów z kręgosłupem.
