CEC reviews the complaints about refusal of registration

On August 28th the CEC will review the complaints about refusal of registration of candidates for the House of Representatives of the National Assembly. Complaints filed in regions only will be reviewed then, as the Chairperson of Belarusian Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina informs. Complaints from Minsk region will be reviewed on August 29th, and those form Minsk-city will be reviewed on August 30th.

As Lidia Yermoshina said, for the moment the CEC has reviewed three complains, one of which were satisfied, the other two were not, BelTA reports.

The head of the CEC stated that altogether the Committee received 48 complaints and each of them would be reviewed.

As for the leader of the Movement “For Freedom” Aleksandr Milinkevich, the Chairperson pointed out that the significant number of his collected signatures was recognized invalid, that is “the signatures were collected in the wrong way.”

At the same time Lidia Yermoshina said that the number of candidates “hypothetically must increase” after the review of complaints.

363 candidates for the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the fifth convocation were registered in Belarus. However, the commission of pooling station no. 109 refused to register the leader of the Movement “For Freedom” Aleksandr Milinkevich as a parliamentary candidate.
