Moscow - The Russian President's Special Representative for Africa Mikhail Margelov hopes that the situation with Russian nationals detained in Libya will be resolved positively.

"Our embassy is doing its best to ensure the release of our citizens. I hope for a positive outcome," he said.

A total of 25 foreigners - citizens of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine - were arrested after Libyan rebels stormed an oil company's office in Tripoli last August, Margelov said.

There are two Russians among the detainees. Alexander Shadrov and Konstantin Dolgov were in Libya on a contract with an oil equipment maintenance company.

Libya's post-Gaddafi authorities accuse them of collaborating with the former regime.
