In June 2012 OAO Lidapischekontsentraty invited a major Vietnamese company, Vinacafe, to set up a joint venture to process and package coffee. The company was suggested to invest in building new premises and buying technological equipment. Negotiations are in progress, investments are being calculated. If the project goes through, Vinacafe is ready to supply up to 200 tonnes of coffee per annum to be processed. The coffee will be sold in the CIS.
Lidapischekontsentraty is also interested in importing Vietnamese spices and is seeking partners now. Other processing enterprises of Grodno Oblast are ready to buy spices, too.
In January-May 2012 Grodno Oblast – Vietnam trade was close to $620,000, 25.5% up from the year before. Export amounted to $492,200 (623.8% up), with import at $127,000 (71.1% down).
The major imports from Vietnam are fish, fish fillets, and mincemeat ($51,900), printing machines ($13,500), zip fasteners and their components (about $16,000), rubber footwear ($14,100).
The main exports to Vietnam are malt extract ($93,200), electric equipment for engine ignition ($130,500), hydrazine and hydroxylamine ($37,500), and ethyl non-denatured alcohol ($51,300).
