MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – There are plans to create at least 70,000 new jobs in Belarus in 2017, Belarus' Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky said in an interview with the Respublika newspaper, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Zinovsky named three major areas of work for economic and sectoral bodies this year. The first one is the measures to ensure macroeconomic balance. These include quarterly consumer price indicators and foreign trade balance, directed lending under state programs, regional development and quarterly sectoral and regional monitoring. “We have developed a number of important proposals jointly with international organizations. Thus, several technical missions were held as part of the cooperation with the IMF to assess the quality of the assets of the Belarusian banks, restructure state companies, and enhance the potential of the monetary policy modeling,” the minister explained.
Financial recovery of the real sector was named as the second important area of work. Vladimir Zinovsky stated that in their new business plans the companies will include cost-cutting measures. The ways for financial recovery of insolvent enterprises will be studied in detail.
Efforts to improve the investment climate will be one of the top priorities as well. Laws will be developed on pre-trial settlement of disputes with foreign investors. The legislation will be subjected to the comprehensive analysis to reveal the norms that limit competition in favor of state-funded organizations. Sectoral and regional programs will be developed to boost trade, economic and investment cooperation with foreign states.
Other contributors' to the economic growth will be the efficient employment system, personnel diagnostics, the creation of at least 70,000 new jobs at new and modernized companies, better efficiency and transparency in state property management and less administrative burden on business.
“A set of key parameters to assess the performance of the managerial personnel has been worked out to monitor the implementation of the abovementioned goals. Their implementation will help Belarus meet the vital parameters of its social and economic development in 2017,” Vladimir Zinovsky said.
