Ruble deposits of Belarusians 55.6% up in January-July

MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – As of 1 August 2012 national currency deposits of natural persons stood at Br21.6 trillion, 55.6% up from 1 January 2012. In July alone deposits edged up 0.3%, reads the banking statistics bulletin released by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

Foreign currency deposits of natural persons stood at $5.3 billion, 26.3% up from early 2012 and 2% up in July alone.

Combined national and foreign currency deposits of natural persons grew by 33.5% in January-July 2012 to Br65.4 trillion as of 1 August. In July alone they swelled by 0.9%.

In line with the banking industry forecast for 2012 that has been approved by NBRB Board resolution No. 618, this year deposits of individuals in Belarusian banks should increase by 24-25%.

In January-July 2012 ruble deposits of natural persons and legal persons in Belarusian banks went up 36.1% to make up Br46.9 trillion as of 1 August (4.1% up in July) while foreign currency deposits went up 20.3% to $9.2 billion.

Total deposits of natural persons and legal persons increased by 24.9% to Br122.7 trillion as of 1 August. In July alone deposits went up nearly 4%.
