Belarusian Minister of Transport and Communications Ivan Scherbo said on May 3 that the Belarusian authorities had no plans to sell the national airline Belavia. On the contrary, he said, it is planned to consolidate Belavia, increase the airlines’ fleet and expand the geography of flights.

Ivan Scherbo stressed that the issue of Belavia sale "is not discussed in the Ministry of Transport and won’t be discussed either this or next year," BelTA informs.

Transport Minister says the issue for the purchase of two planes for the national air carrier has been solved. It’s been decided to buy two more aircrafts in the near future. However, the situation with the terms of the purchase remains unclear: whether it’s going to be a financial, operational leasing or a direct purchase.

As Telegraf previously reported, the information that Belavia might be sold to the Russian Aeroflot has been earlier denied by the Belarusian airline itself.
