MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Belarus' number one Victoria Azarenka has reached the quarterfinal at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian, ranked 15th in the world, beat World No.28 Samantha Stosur of Australia 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 in the fourth round. Now Victoria Azarenka is 9-1 lifetime against the Australian player.
The Belarusian will next play either Italy's Roberta Vinci (World No.10) or World No.97 Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia.
World number one Serena Williams of the United States also reached the quarterfinal beating Ukraine's World No.70 Yekaterina Bondarenko 6-2, 6-2.
The tournament in Indian Wells will complete on 20 March.
