MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Belarus plans to supply crushed stone and cement to the Baltic states and Poland for road construction in 2016, Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Dmitry Semenkevich told media after the official opening of House Expo in Minsk on 16 March, BelTA has learned.
“Today we export a lot to the EU countries. In the near future contracts will be signed on the supply of crushed stone and cement to the Baltic states and Poland for road construction projects under EU programs,” he noted.
Speaking about the export diversification, Dmitry Semenkevich stressed that it is a complicated matter for now. “It is not easy to gain footing on new markets, especially in what concerns the export of construction services. Russia is living through a crisis and searching for opportunities to make its construction sector work at its full capacity. We should do our best to achieve high quality for our products, reduce their prime cost. Only then will we be able to offer something new for export,” he said.
As was informed earlier, the Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry plans to increase its cement supplies to Europe by 500,000 tonnes in 2016. A total of 1.2 million tonnes of cement are planned for export to Russia. Belarus also plans to export 8.5 million square meters of glass to Germany and Poland. Apart from that, the ministry has signed contracts with Ukraine on the delivery of 13 million square meters of glass. Belarus also exports glass to Turkey and Italy. The ministry is also working on finding new markets for crushed stone supplies. The Construction and Architecture Ministry works actively to increase supplies to Poland and Lithuania.
