MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – The Honorary Consulate opened in Macedonian capital of Skopje on 18 March. The Honorary Consul of Belarus to Macedonia assumed his office on the same day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the ceremony, Honorary Consul of Belarus Borche Markovski received the consular exequatur. Skopje was defined as the consular district.
When speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Serbia and concurrently to Macedonia Vladimir Chushev stressed that Belarus is interested in developing mutually beneficial relations with Macedonia. He emphasized the importance of trade and economic cooperation and interregional links.
An official reception was given on behalf of the Ambassador and the Honorary Consul on the occasion of the opening of the Honorary Consulate. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of other ministries, the mayor's office of Skopje, the doyen of the diplomatic corps in Macedonia, representatives of the business community and the public.
