Belarus plans to adopt Indian pharmaceutical technologies

MINSK, 29 February (BelTA) – Belarus plans to adopt Indian technologies in the production of pharmaceutical drugs, Deputy Healthcare Minister, Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Department of the Healthcare Ministry of Belarus Valery Shevchuk told media ahead of the presentation of Indian pharmaceutical and healthcare companies in Minsk on 29 February, BelTA has learned.

“Our goal is to establish cooperation in a transfer of technologies to produce the pharmaceutical drugs we do not manufacture and which have a good export potential,” said Valery Shevchuk. “The companies [that present their activities - BelTA] comprise medium-sized business, the segment we are interested in the localization in Belarus. The exports of many of them account for $200-500 million to third countries. The best products are exported,” said Valery Shevchuk.

According to the deputy minister, there are also plans to talk over more active cooperation in what concerns supplies of Indian substances to Belarus. Today the main active pharmaceutical ingredients come from China, the countries of Southeast Asia, Europe.
