Belarus plans to start producing 140 new medicines in 2016

MINSK, 29 February (BelTA) - In 2016 Belarus plans to launch the production of at least 140 new medicines, Deputy Minister - Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Department of the Healthcare Ministry Valery Shevchuk told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“We plan to launch the production of at least 140-150 new medicines in terms of the form of production and also dosage and nomenclature. We expect the production to increase by at least 5%,” Valery Shevchuk said. The medicines that are planned to go in production in 2016 include antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications, analgesics, anesthetics, psychotropic substances.

The Healthcare Ministry is actively working on export diversification, exploring new markets including in South and Southeast Asia.

Today Minsk is playing host to the presentation of the pharmaceutical and health companies in India and a B2B meeting. The event features 37 pharmaceutical companies from India and nearly 40 from Belarus. Among the participants are more than 100 executives and industry experts.

The event has been organized by the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India, the Indian Embassy in Belarus, Technics & Communication company with the assistance of the Healthcare Ministry of Belarus.
