Belarus, Turkey ink agreement on cooperation between exchanges

– Belarus and Turkey have signed an agreement on cooperation between exchanges, representatives of the Consulate General of Belarus in Istanbul told BelTA.

The document was signed during the visit of the delegation of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) to Istanbul on 24-27 November. The delegation was led by BUCE Chairman of the Board Arkady Salikov. Consul General of Belarus in Istanbul Igor Belyi took part in the event outlined by the program of the visit. The Belarusian delegation held meetings with representatives of the Istanbul Commodity Exchange to discuss the possibility of export and import operations using BUCE’s digital trade and exchange trade instruments. An agreement on cooperation between the exchanges was signed. The sides also agreed measures meant to step up interaction between BUCE and the Istanbul Commodity Exchange.

A business forum was held, during which Belarusian representatives met with potential Turkish partners. A presentation of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange with regard to digital trade in exchange and non-exchange commodities took place. Opportunities were outlined for Turkish businessmen to take part in government purchases facilitated by BUCE, including via digital auctions.

As a result of the talks an agreement was signed on establishing information cooperation. The sides will share information about the situation on commodity markets of Belarus and Turkey. Apart from that, the Belarusian delegation visited premises of the company Dosamet, which is one of Turkey’s top metal traders. The possibility of opening a Belarusian exchange warehouse in Istanbul was discussed. The main purpose of the project is to create a center to trade in metal and forest products on the Turkish market and on markets of neighboring countries.
