MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Armed Forces have begun another large-scale combat readiness test, BelTA learned from Major-General Oleg Belokonev, Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian army, on 15 March.
According to the Chief of the General Staff, the first combat readiness test evaluated the performance of army units and the control system. “We are now carrying out the second test taking into account the previously uncovered shortcomings and the explanations of these shortcomings that the troops have been given,” said Oleg Belokonev.
According to the source, the second combat readiness test will use a comprehensive approach and will be rather lengthy. In particular, combat units will be brought to full alert to be ready to carry out assigned missions. Combat support systems will be fully tested as well as communication units, recon units, fire strike units, radiation, chemical and biological protection units, and radioelectronic warfare units.
Apart from that, the control system will test new procedures and a new data sharing and decision-making complex — the software suite Ucheniye (exercise). The software solution collects decisions made by tactical commanders, allows giving instructions and watching the tactical commanders carry out those instructions.
At the same time modern approaches to counteracting hybrid challenges, risks and threats will be checked during practical actions of the troops in the final stage of the combat readiness test.
Oleg Belokonev pointed out that military personnel will be recalled from the reserve and will be assigned to army units and combat support units. The military registration and enlistment offices have already received instructions to mobilize the reservists and get them on their way to active army units.
