MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs suggests that the business community should set up a working group on export development, BelTA learned from Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei during the 17th Assembly of the Business Circles of Belarus on 2 March.
Vladimir Makei stressed: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stays in touch with associations of business circles of Belarus and intends to step up these contacts. We are open to a dialogue with the private sector. Moreover, we have come to terms with the Republican Confederation of Entrepreneurship that we will sign a framework agreement on cooperation and will establish a working group for interaction in export matters. The working group could discuss current issues and work out solutions.”
The Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs suggested that representatives of small and medium businesses should send proposals on the program of joint actions to the confederation before the agreement is signed.
Vladimir Makei said that at present there are over 22,000 economic operators in Belarus but only 8,800 of them are involved in export operations. “It turns out that two thirds of the total number of economic operators stay out of foreign trade operations. Getting them involved is our task,” he stated.
The Belarusian Entrepreneurship Week is scheduled to take place on 29 February — 4 March. Scheduled for 2 March, the 17th Assembly of the Business Circles of Belarus is the key event.
