Belarusian delegation to visit Russia’s Karelia on 7-8 June

– A Belarusian delegation led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko will visit the Republic of Karelia, Russia on 7-8 June, the press service of the embassy told BelTA.

The delegation will include representatives of distributors of Belarus’ largest mechanical engineering companies such as MAZ, MTZ, Amkodor, and Mogilevliftmash. Interests of food industry companies will be represented by the director general of OOO Merkury, said the source. Cooperation in petrochemical industry will be discussed, too.

While in Karelia the Ambassador of Belarus is expected to meet with the head of the region’s government to discuss future development of cooperation in all spheres. Meetings with representatives of Karelian diplomatic circles and participation in celebrating the Republic of Karelia Day have been planned.

In 2012 Belarus-Karelia trade totaled $38.7 million, 1.3% up from 2011. In January-April 2013 the bilateral trade totaled $13.5 million, 13.4% up. Karelia buys Belarusian food, petrochemical and metalworking products. Belarus buys Karelian metal products, paper, and construction materials.
