Belarusian universities may accept around 100 Syrian students

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Belarusian universities may accept up to 100 Syrian nationals, BelTA learnt from Alexei Begun, the head of the Citizenship and Migration Department at the Interior Ministry of Belarus.

“Together with other bodies of Belarus we are going to consider the issue of enrolling nearly 100 Syrian citizens to national universities. They can major in such areas as healthcare, construction and other industries important for Syria,” said Alexei Begun.

In his words, the training of Syrian nationals can be financed through the grants provided by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. “Once the issue of their enrollment is agreed, they will be able to come to Belarus in 2017,” Alexei Begun added.
