BelNPP capital investment up 44.1% in 2015

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – In 2015 capital investment of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) increased by 44.1% to Br8.2 trillion as against 2014. The information was voiced at the final board meeting of the Belarusian Energy Ministry on 26 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the ministry.

“The major inflow of capital investments to the energy sector last year was provided on the BelNPP construction facilities where more than Br8.2 trillion of capital investment was utilized. Under the general contract with AO Atomstroyexport, construction and installation works were performed at the main buildings and premises of the first and second units. A total of $557.2 million was allocated from the state export loan for their financing,” the press service noted.

Among the completed projects is the production base for the BelNPP construction, the eastern bypass road in Ostrovets, a youth center, and seven dwelling houses. The construction of ten more houses for BelNPP builders and workers are underway. According to the state investment program, a total of Br590.4 billion budgetary funds were allocated in 2015 to build infrastructure facilities for the nuclear power plant.

Last year the Energy Ministry increased its capital investment by 12.8% from 2014 to total Br17.9 trillion. The Energy Ministry allocated its resources to the implementation of investment projects following the instruction of the head of state and the head of government, reconstruction and construction of facilities to secure the country's energy security.

Capital investment utilization by Belenergo made up Br8.1 trillion (97.5% to 2014), that by Beltopgaz – Br1.6 trillion (84.7%).
