Constructive talks on Ukraine in Minsk

MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – The negotiations held by the contact group on Ukraine and its subgroups in Minsk on 7 July were constructive, BelTA learned from OSCE special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik on 7 July.

“Today we did some very constructive work not only during the plenary session but also as part of the subgroups. Things indeed are progressing. Various topics were discussed. The economic subgroup discussed the restoration of water supply and the payment of pensions in the Donbass area,” said Martin Sajdik.

The subgroup on security discussed the situation in the populated locality of Shirokino and the withdrawal of weapons under 100mm caliber from the conflict zone. “We hope we will be able to make a decision on the matter next time,” said Martin Sajdik. He went on saying that the session of the subgroup on humanitarian affairs had also managed to secure some shifts.

Sessions of the four subgroups and the trilateral contact group on resolving the crisis in Ukraine's southeast took place in Minsk on 7 July.
