MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Peculiarities of the military service will be taken into account when the retirement age will have to be raised for officers of Belarusian law enforcement and security agencies. The statement was made by State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas after the government conference held by the Belarus president on 10 March to discuss the development of the national pension system, BelTA has learned.

Stanislav Zas said that several proposals on ways to raise the retirement age had been discussed during the government conference. The proposals apply to all citizens of the country, including the military.

“In any way peculiarities of the military service will be taken into account particularly the jobs and missions that involve risks to health or to life. I mean special operations and other specializations. The nature of their jobs will be taken into account when the decision is made,” noted the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.

“We will try not to offend the people, who have earned their pensions already and are looking forward to retirement,” he added.

Stanislav Zas underlined that for now it is too early to talk about the final scenario for raising the retirement age for representatives of power-wielding agencies. The matter has to be worked on in detail.

“The president expects the nation, including the people in uniform, to understand these decisions. If the country has to raise the retirement age for all citizens, the military cannot be left out. It will certainly apply to everyone,” said the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus.
