MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Alain Pilloux is currently in Belarus on a working visit. On 16 March, he met with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The minister expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Belarus and the EBRD achieved over the past years,” the press service noted.
The parties discussed further steps to bolster mutually beneficial cooperation. Special attention was paid to the drafting of EBRD's strategy for Belarus for 2016-2019. BelTA reported earlier that the draft strategy is expected to be published in April 2016.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was founded in 1991 to support the economies of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Today it operates in more than 30 countries, and is the largest investor in the region. Apart from using its own funds, the EBRD also relies on considerable volumes of foreign direct investments.
