- Electricity tariffs for Belarusian households will increase by 15.7% on 1 June. The decision is laid down in Resolution No.428 of the Council of Ministers dated 30 May 2013, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.
According to the document, the flat tariff for electricity in houses (apartments) fitted with electric stoves will rise to Br375.9 per 1kWh (from the current Br324.9 per 1kWh), the differentiated tariff - Br263.1 per 1kWh in the period of minimum loads from 22h00 till 17h00 (now Br227.4) and Br751.8 per 1kWh at peak periods from 17h00 till 22h00 (now Br649. 8).
The prices for electricity for heating and hot water supply will rise to Br442.4 per 1kWh in the period of minimum loads from 23h00 till 6h00 (now Br382.4) and up to Br1,327.4 per 1kWh for the rest of the time (now Br1,147.2).
The flat tariff for electricity, except for specified cases, will increase to Br442.4 per 1kWh (now Br382.4), the differential tariff will go up to Br309.7 per 1kWh in the period of minimum loads from 22h00 till 17h00 from the current Br267.7, and to Br884.8 per 1kWh at peak period from 17h00 to 22h00 (now Br764.8).
The last time the electricity prices were increased was on 1 February 2013.
On 1 February 2013 Belarus introduced a graded payment system for electricity and gas supply, according to Council of Ministers’ Resolution No.52 of 23 January 2013. The document envisages a three-stage tariff system depending on electricity and gas consumption.
Thus, households equipped with electric stoves are eligible for the fixed tariffs, given their monthly consumption does not exceed 250kWh. Multiplying coefficient 1.3 is applied to the consumption of 250 to 400kWh. The tariffs ensuring full recovery of the economically feasible expenses on provision of these services are applicable to the monthly consumption exceeding 400kWh.
Households equipped with gas stoves pay the fixed tariffs for the monthly consumption of 150kWh. Multiplying coefficient 1.3 is used for the monthly consumption of 150 to 300kWh. Full recovery of the expenses is envisaged for the monthly consumption exceeding 300kWh.
Households not equipped with electric stoves and centralized hot water and natural gas supply systems pay electricity bills under the fixed tariffs given the consumption does not exceed 300 kWh. Multiplying coefficient 1.3 is applied to everything in excess of 300kWh.
Starting on 1 June households not equipped with electricity meters will be charged the tariffs that provide full recovery of expenses on the provision of these services.
