GRODNO, 11 March (BelTA) – The international sport festival Neman Spring will open the navigation season at Augustow Canal in Grodno Oblast, BelTA learned from Sergei Koleda, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian public association National Sport Tourism Union (RTSU).
The international festival will be a water tourism multi-sport event that will take place on the Ostashanka River near Augustow Canal in proximity to the village of Nemnovo on 31 March – 3 April. The event is expected to gather about 300 participants from Belarus and teams from Russia, Ukraine, and Poland. Invitations have been sent to sport tourism organizations of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Slovenia, and other countries.
Professional athletes and amateurs will compete in kayaking and catamaraning as teams and individuals. The festival will also feature entertainment events, a contest of videos about water tourism, and a bard song concert.
The water tourism festival Neman Spring has been organized by the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry, the Sport and Tourism Office of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, the public association National Sport Tourism Union, the National Training and Methodology Center for the Physical Education of the Population, and the state enterprise Belsportobespecheniye.
