MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Iran is ready to expand cooperation with Belarus across the board, particularly in trade and economic affairs, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Iran to Belarus Mohammad Reza Sabouri.
The diplomat underlined that political relations between Belarus and Iran have always been high. He was confident that these contracts will grow even stronger in the future. Regular exchanges of delegations and regular negotiations are a good prerequisite for it.
For instance, the ministers of foreign affairs of Belarus and Iran met in in February during the 52nd Munich Security Conference. The sides discussed the state and prospects of advancing the bilateral political, trade, and economic relations. Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov visited Tehran in early February. As a result of the consultations the sides signed a program on interaction between the Belarusian and Iranian ministries of foreign affairs in 2016-2018.
“When we talk about excellent political relations, we assume that contacts in other spheres should be the same,” noted the Ambassador. He underlined that Iran prioritizes trade and economic cooperation and the necessary legal base is available for it. “Even in the time of sanctions Belarusian-Iranian trade and economic relations developed well. I can say that the volume of Iranian investments in Belarus has even increased,” said the diplomat. “Now intentions have been voiced to expand comprehensive interaction with Belarus even more,” stated Mohammad Reza Sabouri.
