KAZAN, 16 March (BelTA) - Belarus and Tatarstan found mutual understanding on all issues raised today, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told reporters following the meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov in Kazan on 15 March, BelTA has learned.
“We are pleased with the depth and thoroughness, exactingness and business rigor with which the negotiations were held. We found understanding on virtually all the issues that were raised today. These issues were not simple and easy. These were complex issues that affect our economic and trade cooperation. But thanks to the balanced and detailed position of our partners we were able to resolve almost all issues,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
The Belarusian head of government expressed concern over the decline in the bilateral trade and economic cooperation. “Through a wide diversification of trade we will soon be able to restore the bilateral trade, which declined slightly, and surpass the previous levels,” Andrei Kobyakov said.
According to him, Belarus and Tatarstan have good prospects for expanding cooperation, improving the performance of the joint assembly plants. “We discussed the possibility of involving Belarusian enterprises in the agricultural fleet renewal program. In Tatarstan, there are more than 16,000 Belarusian tractors and combine harvesters. We hope that soon we will substantially expand this fleet because the vehicles need modernizing and upgrading,” Andrei Kobyakov stressed.
