Lukashenko congratulates Antonio Guterres on his appointment as UN Secretary General

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko sent congratulations to Antonio Guterres on the occasion of his appointment as the next Secretary General of the United Nations, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“I am confident that your extensive professional and life experience will help the United Nations Secretariat fulfill its functions successfully, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations for the benefit of all Member States,” reads a letter of congratulations.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that in this difficult time the effective implementation of the UN mission is possible only through joining the efforts of all states of the world, strengthening mutual trust and respect for the diversity of the ways of development. The role of the head of the United Nations Secretariat in this is exceptional.

“Belarus is ready to provide you with the necessary support in your activities aimed at ensuring security and well-being of the peoples of the world,” the head of state noted.
