Lukashenko urges to step up efforts to collect external accounts receivable

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – It is needed to step up efforts to collect external accounts receivable, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the session held on 23 September, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that in this difficult time unrecovered accounts receivable are a big problem for the economy and financial sector. “It means that our enterprises deliver products and either do not get money at all, what is like a crime, or are paid in six months, in a year or even in a few years. It means that certain enterprises do not get money for their products. As a result, accounts receivable are accumulated. The country, enterprises and workers do not get enough money,” the head of state said.

The President emphasized: “As far as internal debts are concerned, we can deal with such issues very quickly, but external accounts receivable are the most dangerous thing.” He reminded that the country has taken tough measures to address these issues. “One of the latest examples is the situation with alcohol products. Those who did not pay all debts by 1 September were put in prison. And we will do the same in the future if necessary. We will not allow various swindlers to ruin state-run and other manufacturing enterprises,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The session focused on the efforts of Minsk Tractor Works to solve the problem.
