The major event to mark the Maslenitsa Festival (Pancake Week) was a fair that took place at the Minsk Sport Arena on 12 March. Visitors were invited to choose among more than 50 types of pancakes: wheat pancakes with various fillings, buckwheat, rye, potato, beet and other pancakes. The program of the celebrations also included the presentation of Belarusian farmsteads, four-line folk accordion signing, life size puppets, various interactive games and competitions. The draw of the fair was a competition on cooking the most delicious Maslenitsa pancakes by 11 cooks from Minsk restaurants and cafes.
