MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – There are no serious military threats from the territory of Ukraine for Belarus, deputy head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko said in an interview to the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
According to Pavel Muraveiko, the cooperation of the neighboring country with NATO is neither critical nor provocative for Belarus. “One should treat such processes with respect. The NATO member states are interested in its expansion. In the near term perspective there are no serious military threats or risks from the territory of Ukraine for our state,” said Pavel Muraveiko.
None of the NATO member states which border on Belarus have any territorial claims to Belarus. At the same time, according to Pavel Muraveiko, the presence of the NATO troops near the Belarusian border “evokes no enthusiasm.” “We are a peaceful country that is ready to cooperate with all the countries,” he stressed.
