Martin Sajdik
MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Strict ceasefire is needed for a new crossing point to open on the line of contact, Ambassador Martin Sajdik, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group, told reporters, BelTA has learnt.
“In order to avoid further delays in resolving this problem, it is necessary to strictly observe the ceasefire,” said Martin Sajdik. “We are talking about the area near the village of Zolotoye in Lugansk Oblast,” he noted.
The meeting of the working group on economic affairs discussed the restoration of infrastructure, water supply and environmental protection. “I would like to mention the efforts of the parties to reach an agreement about the system of payment for water supply in certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts, to restore a transmission line,” he said. Rebuilding the infrastructure is compounded by the ceasefire violations and delays in demining process.
“There are, unfortunately, the cases when the already restored infrastructure has been destroyed again,” Martin Sajdik added.
“Imposing fees on the export of coal across the line of contact has a negative impact on the region. Another negative factor is the destruction of the unified railway management structure,” said Martin Sajdik.
