Pakistan hailed as key partner of Belarus

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – Pakistan is a key partner of Belarus, BelTA learned from member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Marzalyuk, who presented the bill on ratifying the Belarus-Pakistan friendship and cooperation agreement on 21 April.

Igor Marzalyuk said: “Pakistan is a very important and key country of the region. There is space for development over there for our private sector and the production sector. Pakistan has a very good and benevolent attitude towards our country. Pakistan's market, its geographical location and opportunities are important for us.”

The agreement was signed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Minsk on 10 August 2015. In particular, the document reads that the sides undertake to prevent the use of their territories for any kind of armed aggression against each other. The sides undertake to work together to preserve and bolster peace and security in Eurasia.

In line with the agreement the sides will also put efforts into developing and enhancing contacts between the parliaments of the two countries. The expansion of bilateral cooperation in military and military technology affairs is part of the agreement as well.
