MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Poland is ready to negotiate with Belarus without preconditions. Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Witold Waszczykowski made the statement after meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei on 22 March, BelTA has learned.
“We are capable of having a dialogue without bringing in too much politics,” said the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs. Witold Waszczykowski remarked that the meeting had been initiated by the Polish side. “The new Polish government believes it is abnormal that close neighbors have not met with each other for many years. I've come here in order to start negotiations without preconditions,” he said.
Witold Waszczykowski underlined that Poland is interested in Belarus' successful development as a modern state in every respect.
The Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs said that during the talks on 22 March the sides agreed to continue the dialogue in this manner. The Belarusian and Polish ministers of foreign affairs touched upon matters concerning the modernization of the border infrastructure, smooth visa issuance procedures, and the possibility of reducing the cost of visas. The sides also spoke about bilateral, multilateral, and regional cooperation with China.
