BREST, 1 March (BelTA) – The Polish visa center in the Belarusian city of Brest can receive up to 500 people per day, BelTA learned from Slawomir Misiak, Head of the Visa Department of the Consulate General of Poland in Brest.
The office for receiving visa applications is located in the business center Domus City, with visa centers of Estonia, Lithuania, and Hungary available in the same hall. The large hall has 17 windows where documents are accepted. Ten of the windows belong to the Polish visa center. The center's personnel will help fill in the forms if necessary. Apart from that, applicants can buy insurance over there, make copies of their documents, and pay consular and service fees.
According to Slawomir Misiak, first of all, the visa center has been designed for the convenience and comfort of people. The reception conditions are much better than those in the consulate. Visa centers are expected to open in Baranovichi and Pinsk soon so that people would not have to travel to Brest two times. They will be able to submit papers and get their passports later in their home cities. At the same time the consulate will continue receiving visa application documents.
Visa applicants are advised to book their application windows by phone or the Internet. About 50 people were registered on the first day. “The system is being rolled out. We expect more visitors tomorrow. The center can welcome up to 500 people per day,” said the Head of the Visa Department of the Consulate General of Poland in Brest. He specified that applicants from all over Belarus can submit their documents here.
In 2015 the Consulate General of Poland in Brest issued 126,588 visas to Belarus citizens, including over 26,000 visas with a two-year validity period. The number was 2,500 visas above the figure registered in 2014. “It is a large figure taking into account the introduction of biometric visas. We are the only consulate of a Schengen country in Belarus that has managed to issue more visas than the previous year. It is a great accomplishment,” noted the source.
