The General Prosecutor of Belarus informed that the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - chief of public security, police colonel, Eugeni Poluden was brought charges on December 15. Eugeni Poluden is accused of committing a crime under Part 3 Article 424 of the Criminal Code of Belarus - the abuse of power or misuse of authority.
The previous measure of restrain has been preserved - Deputy Minister will stay under arrest, BelaPAN.
As Telegraf previously reported, Attorney General issued a statement about criminal prosecution against Deputy Interior Minister Eugeni Poluden on December 8. However, the prosecutor's office did not comment then on further details of the case.
Poluden was appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - chief of police of public safety - in summer 2009. Prior to that, he’d worked in Minsk police department. According to the newspaper Hartiya97, Poluden was present at opposition rallies and personally commanded to crackdown on them.
