MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – A website will go online in Belarus in 2016 to give access to public data. The move is stipulated by the strategy on developing information technologies in Belarus in 2016-2020, BelTA learned from Belarusian Information Technologies and Communications Minister Sergei Popkov on 4 March. The statement was made during the roundtable session focusing on the formation of the common digital space in the Eurasian Economic Union.
The provision of open data should be developed in accordance with the strategy. In particular, at least 100 sets of open data are to be provided. “In 2016 we should implement the so-called open data web portal. Its availability will be taken into account when the United Nations Organization evaluates the readiness of the digital government in the country,” noted Sergei Popkov. In 2014 Belarus' digital government readiness was ranked 55th among 193 nations.
Apart from that, the strategy also provides for greatly increasing the share of digital services rendered by government agencies. The share should be as high as 75% at least. The share of electronic document flow should be at least 95% of the total document flow between government agencies.
Medical documents are supposed to be fully converted to digital form by 2021. All the Belarusian mass media should be represented on the Internet by that year.
According to Sergei Popkov, as a result of the strategy's fulfillment the share of the gross added value of information and communication technologies in the GDP is expected to reach 3.8-4%.
