MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Russia is ready to cooperate with Belarus to make automobile components. The statement was made by Russian Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Alexander Morozov during the panel session held as part of the third Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 7 June to discuss Belarus-Russia cooperation in the production sector, BelTA has learned.
The Russian Deputy Industry and Trade Minister pointed out that the automobile market in Russia has been experiencing slower growth and stagnation in the last three years while the market of automobile components is expanding. “We have a great potential for joint cooperation in the automobile industry. Upon instructions of the president of Russia in September the Industry and Trade Ministry is supposed to present a renewed automobile industry development strategy before the government. The strategy will focus on manufacturing automobile components and export,” said Alexander Morozov.
In his words, the measures outlined by the renewed strategy will be aimed at better localization and at enabling favorable conditions for manufacturers of automobile components. The document is supposed to bring about “explosive growth” in this branch of the Russian economy, noted the Deputy Industry and Trade Minister.
Alexander Morozov said he believes that the demand for automobile components will rise in Belarus and Russia in the next few years, this is why the industry ministries of the two countries should pay close attention to cooperation in this sphere.
