Sheikh Salman, Gianni Infantino lead FIFA presidency race

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) - Head of the Asian Football Confederation Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa and UEFA Secretary General Gianni Infantino are FIFA presidential election front runners. The election will take place in Zurich on 26 February, according media reports.

The coefficient for the victory of the Head of the Asian Football Confederation is 1.6, while that of the UEFA Secretary General stands at 2.2. Apart from them, there are three more candidates for the post of the FIFA president: Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, former Minister of Human Settlements of the Republic of South Africa Tokyo Sexwale, and former FIFA Deputy Secretary General Jerome Champagne.

FIFA will get a new president today when its 207 delegates from around the world gather in Zurich, Switzerland to vote for a successor to Sepp Blatter.

The delegates will cast their vote in a secret ballot. Two third of the votes are needed to win in the first vote. In any other votes there is a requirement for 50% plus one vote. The FIFA President is elected for four years.
