MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Vietnam plans to use the Belarusian experience in the construction of its nuclear power plant. The matter was discussed during the visit of a delegation from Vietnam to the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learnt from the Information and PR Department of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.
The Vietnamese delegation paid a visit to Belarus to get familiar with the implementation of the country's nuclear energy program. The delegation comprised representatives of the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS), the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology, other official organizations.
At the meeting with Director General of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant Mikhail Filimonov, Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Chu Ngoc Anh praised the organization and construction of the plant. “We are deeply impressed with your achievements, how good you went through the preparatory period ahead of the construction and the organization of construction logistics,” said Chu Ngoc Anh.
It was stressed at the meeting that Belarus' experience in the construction of such strategically important facilities as new nuclear energy units was of high interest to Vietnam. Vietnam plans to build its first nuclear power plant and does not rule out that its specialists will be trained taking into account the BelNPP operation experience.
Apart from the construction site, the Vietnamese delegation was shown the training center and the information center of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.
