MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – The Energy Ministries of Belarus and Russia have been instructed to work out proposals on a new Russian gas pricing formula for Belarus and submit them to the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Belarus' Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik told media ahead of the final ministerial meeting on 26 February, BelTA has learned.
“We are working closely with Russia on the matter. The issue has been discussed at the recent meeting between the Premiers of Belarus and Russia. The Energy Ministries of the two countries were tasked to consider the arguments of each party and present the corresponding proposals to the Prime Ministers,” noted Vladimir Potupchik.
Today Belarus pays $142.37 per 1,000 cubic meters of Russian gas. Belarus' Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko previously said that there were substantial grounds for reducing the price for Russian gas.
