Zissi snowstorm leaves 2,000 Brest Oblast residents without power

BREST, 2 March (BelTA) – Zissi snowstorm has left 2,362 in Drogichin District, Brest Oblast without power, spokesman for regional division of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry Sergei Mashnov told BelTA.

One fallen tree caused a power outage to tree villages in the district, including 709 homes in Antopol, 193 homes in Golovchitsy, and 167 homes in Osipovichi. The power supply will be restored in the near future.

Traffic police, power engineers, utility services, and rescuers were ready to cope with the impact of the blizzard. “We spend the night in normal mode. No accidents were registered, except for the power cut in Drogichin District,” Sergei Mashnov said.

The Brest regional weather forecasting service said that the snowstorm increased the snow cover in almost all parts of the region to some 6cm, in Baranovichi and Gantsevichi District to 11cm.
