Belarus' Mamoshuk wins European wrestling gold

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – Maria Mamoshuk of Belarus clinched the women's 69kg gold at the European Wrestling Championships in Riga, BelTA has learned.

In the final the Belarusian defeated Israel's Ilona Kratysh 9-0. On her way to the gold medal Maria Mamoshuk saw off Signe Marie Store of Norway 8-0 and was too strong for Turkey's Buse Tosun, 7-6.

In 2015 Maria Mamoshuk won the U23 wrestling tournament in Walbrzych, Poland. In 2014 she claimed silver at the European Wrestling Championships. Maria Mamoshuk is a silver medalist of the First European Games in Baku.

In the men's 98kg event Alexander Grabovik of Belarus collected bronze after defeating Czech David Vala and Azerbaijan's Orkhan Nuriyev 6-0 in the repechage.

Belarus' Iosif Chugoshvili (130kg) clinched bronze beating Eduard Popp of Germany 4-1.

Belarus earned eight (one gold, three silver and four bronze) medals at the European Wrestling Championships in Riga.
