Belarusian Gomselmash to start assembling harvesters in Russia's Bashkortostan in H1 2016

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Gomselmash intends to start assembling grain and forage harvesters in Russia's Bashkortostan in H1 2016, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Alexander Ogorodnikov.

“We understand that the first forage harvest can happen in the first few months of summer while grain will be harvested closer to August. We intend to roll out the first test models before the first forage harvest begins. We need the test forage harvesters operational by June,” specified the official.

According to Alexander Ogorodnikov, Gomselmash has signed an agreement on making grain and forage harvesters in Bashkortostan in February. The annual output is expected to be close to 200 harvesters. The enterprise will assemble about five kinds of harvesters.

BelTA has been told that the sides are now busy discussing terms of the project, including the localization degree. “It is important to get it over with soon,” stated Alexander Ogorodnikov. He pointed out a positive factor. A Bashkortostan delegation has confirmed they intend to grant certain subsidies to the Belarusian manufacturer this year and the next one. “Certain subsidies for agricultural manufacturers will be part of the municipal budget. It is very important for end consumers — peasants or farmers — to get cheaper products,” he added.

The Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister said he hopes that the new regional enterprise will be successful. Up till now Gomselmash-made forage and grain harvesters have been sold to Bashkortostan in a fully assembled form.

As far as Belarus-Bashkortostan joint industrial projects are concerned, the Russian enterprise Bashselkhoztekhnika has been a partner of the Belarusian company Bobruiskagromash since 2011. The two sides have set up an enterprise that assembles several kinds of machines.

The industrial group Gomselmash was founded on the basis of the Gomselmash factory that was established in 1930. Gomselmash is one of the top manufacturers of agricultural machines. It is one of the leaders on the world market of harvesters and other sophisticated agricultural machines. Sold under the Palesse brand, Gomselmash's product lineup includes nine types of agricultural machines, 23 basic models, 26 modifications, 48 adapters and tools for harvesting various kinds of crops. Among other countries Gomselmash harvesters are used in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Czechia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, the Baltic states, Argentina, Brazil, Iran, China, and Korea. Gomselmash has a far-reaching distribution chain.
