Brest Oblast exports more construction services to Russia

BREST, 9 March (BelTA) – Brest Oblast exports an increasing amount of construction services to Russia, BelTA learned from Brest Oblast Governor Viktor Sakovsky.

This year Brest Oblast construction workers will focus on construction and installation services outside the oblast. In particular, plans have been made to export more services to Russia. Brest Oblast enterprises successfully operate in Moscow and the oblast. After finishing the building of the embassy of Belarus specialists of OAO Construction Trust No. 8 started working on the embassy of Malaysia. It is possible that the company may be invited to perform a major overhaul of one of Moscow's iconic cultural objects, noted Viktor Sakovsky.

Brest Oblast enterprises are intent on penetrating regional housing construction markets of Russia. OAO Brestzhilstroy opened a proprietary representative office in Kaliningrad Oblast in 2016. The company intends to build 18-storey residential buildings there. The possibility of setting up manufacturing enterprises in other Russian regions is under consideration. “The establishment of joint ventures is the way to go. It is extremely difficult to enter this market any other way. Some progress has been made in our search for partners. Our civil engineering companies are interested in manufacturing cooperation, in particular, the company Brestoblselstroy,” noted Viktor Sakovsky.

Every month 1,600 construction workers are employed outside Brest Oblast and the country. The number of Belarusian specialists employed for foreign construction projects will rise as the geography of the export of services increases. So far three Brest Oblast construction companies have opened their branches in Kazakhstan's capital city. The Pinsk-based company Stroytrest No. 2 may enter the Polish market. Negotiations on signing contracts for the construction of engineering communications in Poland are underway.
