Spain's ACS plans to invest in Belarus

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Big Spanish construction company ACS has plans to invest in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in France.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France with concurrent accreditation to Spain Pavel Latushko met with Director for Russia and the CIS of Spain's ACS Miguel Franco on 9 March. The Spanish group, which operates in 70 countries, is one of the world's biggest construction companies. Its annual turnover makes up €60 billion.

“The company expressed interest in considering the opportunity of implementing big projects in Belarus' infrastructure, industry and energy sectors. An agreement was reached that the embassy jointly with the National Investment and Privatization Agency and other stakeholders would work out proposals within the framework of cooperation with Spain's ACS,” the embassy said.

Later in the day the Belarusian diplomat met with President of the France-Belarus Friendship Group in the National Assembly of France Nicolas Dhuicq, the Director General of Concerto European Developer and the owner of JC Turri Reindustrialisation. The representatives of the companies expressed interest in the implementation of investment projects in Belarus and asked for a list of priority areas for investing and concrete investment projects to study the ways of implementing them in Belarus.

The Belarusian embassy in France plans to organize a meeting between representatives of these companies and the Minsk City Hall authorities.
