The Belarusian Transport and Communication Ministry has requested Czechia to allocate more bilateral and transit transportation permits to Belarusian trucking companies for 2010, the press service of the Ministry told BelTA.

The request was voiced at a session of the Belarusian-Czech commission for economic, industrial, scientific and technical cooperation in Minsk a while ago.

In view of the enforcement of the European Union’s Visa Code Belarus made the request to consider applying Article 24 to international truckers. The article allows issuing multiple-entry visas for a period from six months to five years. The request had been solicited by the Belarusian trucking association BAMAP. Belarus also made the request to recognize BAMAP as an external supplier of services in line with Article 43 of the European Union’s Visa Code and to reduce the number of documents required for getting a visa via BAMAP.

The proposals met support from the Czech side. A working group has been established to promote cooperation in transportation between Belarus and Czechia.

Representatives of transport administrations of the two countries discussed the state of cooperation in railway, combined, automobile and air transportation. Attention was paid to considering prerequisites for increasing cargo and passenger transportation figures.

The sides discussed the operation of several Czech companies in Belarus and agreed to continue cooperation between Belarusian and Czech companies in the area of transport, logistics, transport engineering, road infrastructure and investment projects in the transportation area.
